About

EMDR

Eye movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, or EMDR, is a treatment approach used to heal patients from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of painful or disturbing life experiences. With EMDR, patients can speedily experience the benefits of resolving trauma that once took years of traditional psychotherapy to manifest. EMDR is most popularly used to treat Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, but can also be used to treat other problems, including panic attacks, eating disorders, or anxiety.

Our goal is to help our patients deal with traumatic life experiences. With EMDR patients learn to associate new responses to memories of the traumatic event. The patients’ own intellectual and emotional processes are used to develop the new responses. Our patients often remark that their emotional wounds have not only healed, but that they feel positive change to their underlying personality.
